I’m planning on visiting your country next year around august (not fina li sed dates yet, was initially thinking september but they don’t open during the week... ) to visit a couple theme parks (Cedar Point, HersheyPark & Six Flags Great Adventure) and have got a day set out for travelling between 2 of them and was wondering if there is anything you OPPOs would recommend to do along the following route
Wrong Wheel Drive (41%)

That northern route should be more interesting (and also cheaper due to the tolls on PA turnpike). Theres some cool parks up there in Northern PA. Will definitely get you to some of the most wilderness you can get to back East. And depending on elevation, if its September you might even get some leaves changing by then.

Definitely take the northern route. It will be prettier. That said, Kennywood outside Pittsburgh is a nice, one day-sized amusement park. My family went a couple of years ago and had a blast.

Stay north, avoid the PA turnpike, the tolls are horrendous and it’s a garbage road. The northern route is more scenic as well.
If you’ve got some time, head to the Henry Ford Museum, it’s a couple of hours from Cedar Point (near Detroit) and it’s well worth the trip.
Check out the Hershey Car musuem, it’s very close to the park. Also check out the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, it’s about 40 miles from Hershey and has a huge collection. There are plenty of civil war sites near that route, if you’re interested. Gettysburg is nearby for example. DC is 2-3 hrs, if you want to do the Smithsonian Museums and monuments and those are all free (though some charge for parking).

If set on those parks, do as others have said and take the Northern route. The one mapped is decent and has some okay view/turns, but is generally not that exciting.
+1 on checking out Kennywood as well. It’s a fun park for the size and Pittsburgh is an interesting city to check out as a tourist. I live in the city and can give many recommendations.

I have family in PGH and Somerset, and used to travel there often as a kid. But it wasn't until about three years ago that we made it to Kennywood. Great park, not overcrowded (at least when we went), nice views, good rides, easy one day visit. 10/10 would go back.

I used to live in Hershey and Cedar Point is just about the best amusement park in the country. My uncle helped build Great Adventure back in the day, too. You’ll enjoy the trip.
Go to Troegs in Hershey if you like beer, it’s some of the best in microbrew. If you like fine(ish) dining, I recommend Fenicci’s or Devon Seafood.
Lots of parks along I-80. Wave at the closing GM plant in Ohio.
The Ohio turnpike does have tolls, so keep some cash handy.

We went to Falling Water probably about 20+ years ago. I seem to recall that it was having some structural issues from the overhangs. I also seem to recall that it was better on the outside than the inside. I spent a few years of my childhood living in Oak Park. Lots of neat FLW houses to see and visit.

I went ot one in New Hampshire and one in Buffalo. the one in Buffalo was under restoration when I went there so it was a little disappointing. I believe Fallingwater has recently undergone massive restoration to basically keep it from falling apa rt. It seems to have done well considering he was told it would never stand.

Take the Norther route, but divert even farther North into the Allegheny National Forest.
Pick up Route 666 there, and drive it end-to-end while blasting Iron Maiden.

Eh, since the Henninger family sold Kennywood in ‘07 , the place has kinda gone downhill (and not in a good way) . I’d suggest Idlewild instead.

Fun fact, Kennywood and Idlewild are both owned by the same Spanish operator. I grew up 10 mins from Idlewild and think it’s better if you have young ones.
I do agree the luster of Kennywood has worn off over the year (and pissed off a lot of Yinzer by removing Heinz ketchup) , I haven’t been there in about 3-4 years. It’s still fun for visitors, though.

Good to hear! I grew up near Somerset (Greensburg if you’ve ever heard) and live/work in town now. I haven’t been to Kennywood in a few years, but it’s always a great day trip without feeling exhausted afterwards.

If you have time when your at Cedar Point, you can take a ferry from very near there to either Kelly’s Island or Put-In-Bay. The latter is more tourist oriented, with plenty of bars and restaurants, but also Perry’s Peace
M
onument and other places of interest.

Lots of cops in Ohio too, definitely keep to less than 10Mph over posted.
We drive from Chicago to Williamsport at least twice a year so I know that route pretty well.

I always thought falling water was out west for some reason. Never realized it was in PA.
Good to know.

If you’re heading towards Cedar Point, I live 15 minutes south of downtown Cleveland if you’re looking for a cheap (free) place to stay.

Sorry, I don’t Oppo as often as I used to...but I live near Akron and can chime in on a few of these.
The north route might be a little better, as tolls will be considerably lower that way...but that’s assuming you don’t want to stop anywhere near Pittsburgh. Kennywood is a good amusement park in that area, and that might be a consideration. On the other hand, you mentioned that you only have a day set aside for the trip. Maybe go north.
Tolls on I76 in Pennsylvania will probably be in excess of $25 one way. I76 continues into Ohio, and turns into I80 west of Youngstown. Tolls from the Ohio state line to somewhere near Sandusky for Cedar Point will likely be less than $10 (possibly less than $5).
Cleveland has lots of cool stuff to see, especially down by the Lake Erie waterfront. Clayton mentioned the William G Mather museum, which is a walk-through tour of an ore-hauling ship. There’s also a WWII US Navy submarine (USS Cod) tour maybe 10 minutes walk down the seawall from the Mather. There’s also the Crawford Auto Museum and tons of great restaurants downtown.
Akron is home to a lot of American automotive history, being the original home of Goodyear, Firestone, and BFGoodrich tires among others. The skies aren’t grey anymore though.
Taking in a baseball game might be fun, too. Both the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland Indians are Major League baseball teams along your route. There’s also the AA Minor League Akron Rubber Ducks, which usually field a pretty good team.
Also, if you’re into good beer, Akron and Cleveland are home to a frankly ridiculous number of quality micro-breweries.
